Here are some tips to keep you and your wallet safe!

1. Bidding on items overseas can be a big mistake. Foreign bids have many scam opportunities that go above and beyond simple misunderstandings. However if the item is small, light, and/or very unique, chances are buying domestic will be the better choice. American laws are only enforced in America, and scam artists around the world know this.

2. Look at the photos. Are they just photos from the company web site or are they authentic home photos of the item? Scammers can get pictures of anything from the web, including other Ebay auctions. If you have seen the exact same photo in other auctions, be suspicious.

3. Talk to the seller! Placing a bid on an item gives you the right to view the seller’s contact information. After bidding, go to the link provided below and insert the sellers user name along with the item number and you will receive an email with the sellers contact information.

If the phone number does not work, RED FLAG. Try contacting the seller by email, or look him up in the white pages (whitepages.com) Don’t be afraid to ask very specific questions about the product and sale.
